They have a name!

Ok, so I've been noticing these unique "wreaths" lately and had to find out what they were and where to get one! I did some major "design research"...ha! I found out that these little guys have a name! Let me introduce you to the Juju hat! Turns out that these little "wreaths" are actually feathered Camaroonian ceremonial headdresses, also known as Tyns. They are hand -made and worn by prominent members of society, as well as the Juju dancers in West Africa. The intricate design of the feathers is sewn onto a tight raffia base and covered with wood and cloth material.

Little did I know that after looking up Juju hats on several design blogs and magazines, I realized they they have become the darlings of the design world! They are all over the place! Apparently "real designers" have been using these for years! What do I know!?! Plus, as pointed out on Nesting Place, since they are now showing up on  the likes of HGTV, their popularity with designers will wain because that means it's WAY too mainstream and "normal folk" might start using them! Maybe we'll start finding juju hats in garbages all over town! What's more shocking to me was the price of these beauties....between $200-400!!! Apparantly they are rare and hard to find! Probably not happening in our home any time soon, but have a look at these exotic and fun little "trendy" juju hats!

For the love of Millwork!

Man, I love me some good millwork! Wainscoting, crown molding..I just LOVE it. Full wall paneling, half wall paneling...loves. We are very lucky to have crown molding in almost all of the rooms in our house, including the basement and bathroom. The only rooms that don't have it, are the bedrooms and I'd love to have it there as well! I would LOVE to have millwork in the dining room. That's a project for down the road! Happy dreaming!!!
There is just something so beautiful about a room with millwork. I love the classic and traditional look. It adds a level of detail.

Imagine having millwork all the way from ceiling to floor???  Sigh

Obviously I love the wainscoting but I'm also loving the grass cloth wallpaper and that light fixture!

I love the box-like design wainscoting

Loving the carpet, colour on the wall, mirror and chandelier...and a double french door! Love!

This room steals my heart, top to bottom, it's perfect!

Look at the detail on this ceiling! Stunning!

That light fixture...

Look at this hallway...so gorgeous

Beautiful in an entry way!

Our Daughter's room has wainscoting and it makes her room looks so girly and pretty!

Lovely Lighting

I love me a fab light fixture! Lately I've been noticing chandeliers bigger than the dining room tables they are over and I think it is absolutely fabulous! The bigger the better! I have always had a love of crystal chandeliers but lately I've had a fascination with ALL light fixtures! I love just going to lighting stores and admiring all the different styles. I don't have enough lights in my house to accommodate my love of all of them! Oh how to choose!!!

Everything in this room is beautiful. Love a chandelier in a living room! (my Husband actually wanted this round table!)

We just did this fixture in our front entryway! Love them over an island!

Wanted to do this fixture in our front entryway but it was too low (darn my tall Husband!!!!)

Where do I begin??? From the INCREDIBLE chandelier, to the chairs, to the fireplace...I'm in love

Saw this light fixture on "Sarah's House", then saw it in person at West Elm and it is absolutely beautiful. It makes an awesome wind chime sound

Mirror, mirror on the wall

Today's post is all about my new favourite mirror style, Venetian mirrors! I am just in love with these octagonal mirrors with the embellishment at the top. I'm also noticing these fab rectangular mirrors with the circle motif! I need to get my hands on one!
